Makeup Revolution: Renaissance Lipstick Review & Swatches

Makeup Revolution have recently been throwing out some really amazing releases lately and one of them are the Renaissance Lipsticks. The collection consists of 20 shades that range from nudes, reds, pinks and deep browns. Each lipstick is housed in the most beautiful rose gold packaging and it looks much expensive and luxurious than the mere £4 each.

From bottom to top; Lifelong, Except, Luxe, Greatest and Classic.

I was very kindly sent 5 of the lipsticks to try out and although some of them are a little out there for my own tastes I'm pretty sure those certain shades will definitely suit someone who is a little more daring with their style and a lot more edgy than myself. Although I have mentioned the packaging already, these are on a completely different level to Makeup Revolution's lipstick casing and these are so weighty and seem of such a luxurious price tag that it's hard to get your head round the fact that there only £4 each. There's something quite retro about the packaging with the ridged casing and they remind me of old style luxury among other lipstick brands - so quite the blast from the past.

I was sent a mix of more daring shades like I mention above and some more subtle nudes and a classic red. I don't think the shades will be suited to everyone's tastes and some of them are unflattering with my own skin tone, which is quite fair with slight olive undertones. Luxe was my most disliked out of the 5 in terms of the shade and was unflattering with my skin tone - I found it looked like a bar of melted chocolate was smeared on my lips. Exempt is a purple toned black and definitely up there with the more daring of colour choices and very much out of my comfort zone, but I really liked the shade and think it will make a great lipstick come Halloween or for fancy dress purposes or experimental makeup looks. Greatest is a really nice nude and great for those days of neutral toned, barely-there makeup. My personal favourites were lifelong and classic. Classic is a makeup bag must-have and is your typical classic red lip. Lifelong is what I can only describe as a nude toned orange/red and looks so flattering with my skin tone.

All of the lipsticks in terms of colour pay-off were amazing, the lipsticks are so creamy and apply well. It's easy to see why they're more expensive than the lipsticks already in the Makeup Revolution collection. The lipsticks seem so luxurious right down to the packaging and I'd personally put them at more than £4. The Renaissance collection is available online at Tam Beauty and online and instore at selected Superdrug stores.
