Birchbox: June Edition - French Sole

When the email came rolling in with the three designs for this month's Birchbox I sighed with serious envy. All three looked amazing, but the one that stood out to me the most was this gorgeous washed-out floral one - a clear keeper and one I shall certainly be filling with various bits and pieces. I'm not one for waiting around and despite the fact I do love surprises I also can't resist a sneaky peak at what to expect. And I have to say, the previews on other people's blogs were amazing. I got so excited and waiting in anticipation for mine to come through the door, but that excitement turned a little sour when I saw what was inside my box. I'm slightly underwhelmed with the contents of my box, maybe not the contents overall, but the sizes and how those sizes compare to the other products that were available. I felt like they weren't really split equally between each box depending on size as well as products.

These are the contents of what's available for this months Birchbox. I got...

Beauty Protector Oil - £16. This smells amazing, but I don't tend to use oils on my hair. I'm always wary that I'll end up looking like I've dipped my hair in chip pan oil (never a good look). Now that I've got my hand on 2 sample bottles I'll most likely give it a go and see how I get on.

Yes to Cucumber Facial Wipes - £4.99. I've owned these previously after purchasing them in the Birchbox e-shop and liked them. These are a sample-size of ten wipes and will be good for taking on holiday for those lazy nights of makeup removal.

No7 English Laundry perfume - £60. This is a really nice, feminine perfume. I love the scent. It's very fruity, very strong in scent and will make a great addition to any evening collection. I actually don't mind getting a sample of perfume, I find them great for saving to put away for holidays. You then have a collection of different scents and can pick whatever suits your mood.

Cowshed Body Lotion - £18. This is a really decent-sized 100ml and worth an impressive £6. Cowshed aren't a brand I've tried before and this body lotion does look promising, but it's just not a product I tend to use. I've got so many bottles of body lotion, it seems to be the product you get with every perfume gift set and I don't use any - I think I better start. I think this is a good size to keep my skin hydrated on holiday.

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Creamy Lip Stain - £14. I got a 2.25g sample-size of the lip stain in shade poppy and the full-size is 4.8ml. This is slightly coral toned with a gold shimmer. It's a lovely shade for Summer. I did swatch it on my hand, but it left no stain behind.

StyLondon Metallic Tattoos - £7.99. Metallic Tattoos are something I usually wouldn't wear, but these seem to be really in this Summer and are everywhere. The designs I got are quite pretty and will be amazing worn round my wrists and layered with bracelets. I may try this soon, so keep an eye out on Instagram - apart from that, these will be amazing on holiday.

Birchbox teamed up with French Sole for June's box and in doing so we got to choose 1 of 3 shoe bags. I got the one that matched my box, which I'm pleased about, and will definitely get my use out of that. It could also be used for storing other bits and pieces too.

I'd definitely say Birchbox have created a Summer themed box. There's plenty I'll get my use of and will take on holiday. I think I got my money's worth, but I'm still disappointed with the size of these products in comparison to the more generous sizes of others (examples; petitmoi-bigworld.co.uk). It could be worst, but it certainly could be a lot better.

  1. It's a shame that it didn't live up to the pretty box and I think that can be the fault in doing different boxes, you can be a bit disappointed when you compare to other peoples.

    1. I feel the same. It didn't really wow me and the size of each product wasn't shared out equally. Price doesn't matter that much to me, but making sure I have enough of a product to sample is. When I see how tiny they are in comparison I feel a bit mugged off if I'm honest xx
