When I saw this swatched on Tanya Burr's blog I was blown away by Mistletoe Kisses, the newest addition to the Tanya Burr cosmetic range and a limited edition lip-gloss in time for Christmas. I've not tried any of the lip glosses from Tanya's range but I was instantly drawn to the shimmer of this particular one. On ordering at Superdrug I found it had quickly gone out of stock, the only other place it's stocked is Cloud 10 with a minimum spend of £15.00 to qualify for free delivery, however, I went on Amazon and found the Cloud 10 stock list who were offering free UK delivery. I know the lip-gloss range as had some mixed reviews so, here are my thoughts on this lip-gloss.
I found the lip-gloss to have a very sweet scent, almost like an Haribo or Gummy Bear. I've heard that a lot of people find the formula to be sticky, I, however, didn't find the formula to have any stickiness when applied on the lips, but it's definitely prone to having a few hairs stuck to it in windy conditions. I didn't find Mistletoe Kisses to have the greatest lasting power once applied, nor was the colour pay off that great, though it can be built up to achieve a more bolder look, but only slightly. The shimmer inside is truly beautiful and you can't feel the glitter particles whatsoever. For £6.99 I feel they are a little over priced and think lipglosses from the likes of Makeup Revolution or MUA are just as good if not better. I love Tanya Burr and watch her vlogs, but I just wasn't that impressed by this lip-gloss and felt a little disappointed, especially after seeing the gorgeous swatches on Tanya's blog. I will, however, be rocking this over the festive period by layering it over a similar shaded lipstick, with the formula being quite sheer it's easy enough to work with other shades, and the shimmer with bring a little sparkle in time for Christmas.
Have you tried the Tanya Burr range? What are your thoughts on the range?
Looks like a very happy red. I like the element of sparkle!

It's got a beautiful amount of sparkle. I'm hoping I can play around with it enough to make it work and not go to waste. The swatch on Tanya's blog is beautiful but I just couldn't seem to achieve that x
DeleteWhat a beautiful color! I also love Tanya. It's a shame it wasn't as good as you expected.

Yeah, me too. It was beautifully swatched on Tanya's blog that I feel rather disappointed it didn't apply just as well. The only conclusion I have is she layered the swatch to achieve that particular colour with quite a few layers x
DeleteI absolutely love Tanya Burr, and you have proven that she once again hasn't dissappointed us :)
ReplyDeleteI love the shade. I wish there was a superdrug in Ireland, I have to go to the effort to order her products if I want them.

Tanya is such a lovely girl , she sounds really down to earth. Slightly underwhelmed by this lip gloss though x
DeleteI have some of her lipgloss's and I love them!

Really glad you had a better experience. I'm not sure whether it's the fact I had such high expectations or the swatch I saw on Tanya's blog, the pigmentation was crazy good and I just don't believe it's as brilliant as it looks. I can't speak for all the shades in the range, and of course, Tanya wears them beautifully. I like to layer it over Makeup Revolution's Atomic Red, so I'm still getting my money's worth x
DeleteThe sparkle looks amazing in the tube, that's disappointing that it didn't live up to the swatches on her blog though :(
ReplyDeleteI did think her collection was a little overpriced when I saw them, considering she's a high street name and a lot of teens will be buying them, £7 is a little bit steep when there are much more experienced brands out there selling their products for cheaper - for just as good, if not better quality. :(
Juyey xx
The sparkle is amazing, I definitely can't fault it on that, just the right amount if on the lips when applied giving a really great festive lip. I just expected more from the colour pay-off. I, however, do love the nail polishes and definitely think they are worth the price. I like to layer it over reds so, it's not all a loss x
