Manchester is one of my favourite cities to visit for drink, food, entertainment or a big shopping spree. You could easily make a weekend of it and choose from a selection of different hotels in Manchester to stay in. I know the city is a huge choice when it comes to hosting a hen/stag do's, which is where I'll be attending a hen do towards the back end of 2019, and the hotel will definitely come in handy after a day of celebratory drinks.
Recently me and my partner decided to take a trip into Manchester for a day date. We left our daughter with her grandparents and took the train into the city for a mooch around. We had every intention of exploring the city to see what quirky activities we could get up to, and maybe throw a teeny bit of shopping in alongside that. Our main focus points were;
FOOD, DRINK & ENTERTAINMENT
The first place we stopped off at were Wagamama. I'm well aware that Wagamama is a franchise and probably not the quirkiest of places, but having only heard of this place due to starting my blog all those years ago and then becoming a huge lover, it was a win win option for us. I've been to Wagamama only a few times, less than an handful actually - it's not based in the town I'm from and I don't often go into Manchester. This one is based in the Printworks, which is full of many eateries. Wagamama is quirky enough to us and honestly, not many people we know have heard or even experienced this wonderful cuisine.
I got the very tasty Wagamama Ramen and a selection of starters.
Having stuffed ourselves until our stomach was fit to burst, we decided to have a look around for something fun and entertaining. We didn't have to go far before we came across Treetop Adventure Golf. Treetop adventure golf is also based in Printworks and were totally unknown of to us. Inside is a quirky bar and two mini-golf courses. You can either choose one or do both, we went for tropical trail. Loser bought drinks at the bar, and of course I lost! This was so fun and I can't wait to go back. Great fun for the kids and also a fab first date breaker. The bar also does food.
It's NOT a laundrette - Don't let the washing machine's deceive you. The Washhouse is actually a cocktail bar and you need a reservation to go. It's pretty expensive, but for the quirkiness completely justified. The waitress was very attentive in talking us through the menu, asking how our drinks were, and giving us complimentary potato snacks, which she replaced when emptied.
I, for one, would never of imagined that my cocktail would be a serving of coco pops or that my other half would get toast and marmalade with his. It was so quirky, and a really fun twist on your typical cocktails. I would highly recommend The Washhouse, but be prepared for the expense and the service charge.
We finished our day off at BoBo Tea. Bubble tea is becoming a lot more popular in the UK, but there's also many people who have never heard or even tried it. I know many people who hadn't until I dragged them along to the stand and made them sample it. Me and my partner call it our thing because we get bubble tea every time we're in Manchester. Bobo tea is situated in the Arndale, outside of Aldi, and in my eyes a very quirky drink. You can get bubble tea with tapioca pearls that are chewy or juicy and pop in your mouth. There's a few different dessert options that I've not tried, but look delicious. I really recommend this place.
Me and my partner want to say a huge thank you to hotels.com who collaborated in making this Manchester trip even more fun than we ever imagined. We both agreed it was the best date we'd ever had together and it was hotels.com generosity that made it possible.
The spending money was gifted by Hotels.com, but all views are my own.
