Foodie Review | bakerdays Letterbox Cake

If there's one thing I love that's a lovely cup of tea and a tasty piece of cake. I'm not much of a cake eater, but I definitely appreciate a tasty piece of cake every now and again. I've heard of bakerdays for quite a while now having seen them scattered among various blogs with a similar post to that I'm in the process of writing and always was intrigued by the concept of a 'letterbox cake' but never went ahead and bought one, however, I was recently offered the opportunity to review one bakerdays letterbox cakes and jumped at the chance.

It's quite unusual to get a cake popped through your letterbox and the idea is one that's pretty quirky and also one I love, especially if you fancy surprising someone with a cake that's personalised but also easy to deliver. The cake itself was neatly packed and compact in a reusable tin inside a box that's small enough to fit through your letterbox - obviously. Inside that box were a couple of balloons and a party type accessory, which in my eyes is a nice touch and also gets you into the celebratory mood regardless of whatever occasion it is.

bakerdays do numerous cakes for any occasion but having not long welcomed a new addition to my family I decided to opt for a 'baby girl moon cake' that was personalised with my little princesses name. It's quite a small cake and will probably serve 4 people if you want a decent-ish size. There's also a selection of different flavours to choose from and you can also choose gluten free or dairy free options. They also offer bigger cakes, cupcakes and personalised balloons. I decided to get something quite light in regards to the flavouring and opted for lemon and it tasted divine, the sponge was very light and very moreish.

The letterbox cakes cost £14.99 with free delivery. To create your own you can do here.
